We certainly will miss Bob so much and are so thankful for him bring the Rusty Blades to Lynchburg, which we both enjoy playing. It was great to play hockey with Bob and we hope we can play the game as long as he did.

When I moved to Lynchburg from Michigan in 2008, I thought I would have to give up skating. Shortly after setting in I went to the rink and found out about the Rusty's. I got in touch with Bob and he got me in. I remember scoring two beauties the first night. From then on I went down hill. I was always amazed with Bob's physical strength. He didn't give anything up to his age or stature. Bob started a great recreational opportunity for me long before I arrived and I have a deep appreciation for that. He will be sadly missed. My condolences to Barbara, family, and friends.
Sincerely

My deepest condolences to Barb and the entire family. I only knew Bob for the last 3 years, playing with the Rusty Blades. He was an inspiration to all of us and we all aspire to follow our hockey playing dreams as long as Bob did. We were all blessed to know him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Bob was a great inspiration to me as he got me back into playing ice hockey after many years. He created a club that brought great brotherhood to many of us in the Rusty Blades. He will be greatly missed, but I'm sure he has scored several hat-tricks in heaven in the last couple of days. Thanks to Bob for bringing all of us together.

I enjoyed the many years of playing hockey with Bob in the Rusties. He created a league that focused on friendship and good sportsmanship, suitable for all ages(over 45) and skill levels. Bob welcomed you on the ice whether you were a beginner or an expert. He was active in in promoting fellowship off the ice as well, with our many annual summer picnics and softball games. Although Bob will be greatly missed, I have an idea his organization, the Rusty Blades, will be around for many years to come. My condolences to the Coffin family, and may God bless you all in the years to come.

So sorry to hear the news of Bob's passing. Bob was an inspiration to so many but touched my life by providing an option to get back into hockey after thinking my playing days were long over. It was obvious Bob's vigor and enthusiasm spread to all the Rustys whenever we were on the ice together, making new friends and reliving old memories. His impact will live on but he will be missed by so many. Rest in Peace Bob.

Bob was still going strong when I last played hockey with the Rusty Blades 2 years ago!
He died so quickly.
He was a very tough guy - an amazing skater and a real inspiration. I had great respect for him.

Personally, my life has been impacted in a personal way over the past 10 years that I had the privilege of working with Bob through the Rusty Blades. I am thankful for the opportunity that I was given to work with Bob and to get to know each and every Rusty Blade over the years. It is only because of Bob and his passion for hockey that the Rusty Blades exists.
I will miss my friend and hockey colleague.
