Obituary of Mary Ann Nichols Wade

Mrs. Mary Ann Nichols Wade, age 84, a longtime resident of Hampton, VA, died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at INOVA Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg, VA. Mary was born May 13, 1932, in Huddleston, Bedford County, VA. She was the daughter of Alvin L. Nichols and Jenny Roberts Nichols. She was happily married for 44 years to Malcolm “Mac” Reed Wade, a native of Waynesboro, VA, who died March 30, 1997. As a homemaker, she dedicated herself to her family, raising two boys and creating a loving home. She was a secretary for Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company for many years. Mary was an active member of First United Methodist Church Fox Hill in Hampton, VA for over 35 years, regularly attending her TRI-X Sunday School Class, Wednesday Morning Circle, Martha Ministries and delivering “Meals On Wheels.” She was highly regarded for her generosity toward her family and friends, her love for God, her sweet disposition and her loving lifestyle. Mary is survived by her sons, Stan Wade and wife, Kelly Wade, of Hudson, Ohio; Jeffrey R. Wade and wife, Noemi Oviedo Wade, of Herndon, VA; her two granddaughters, Allison Wade and Rachel Wade; and her sister, Barbara Padget of Roanoke. A funeral service will will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Bethesda United Methodist Church, Huddleston, with Rev. Rick Barton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemerery. The family will receive friend from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at UpdikeFuneral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston. The family is grateful to the staff of Maple Grove Medical Center in Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, VA for their excellent care of Mary. Thank you and God bless.
