Obituary of Billy Grey Ferguson

Billy Grey Ferguson, 86 of Huddleston, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Tuesday, February 10, 1931 in Bedford County, a son of the late Boyd Clay Ferguson and Dorothy Goad Ferguson Lemon. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Winfred Ferguson & Danny Ferguson. He was a former operator of Big Orange Market, owner & operator of Bill's Service Center and ran his own excavating and septic tank business in Huddleston. He also had a tire recapping business in the lower level of the store building. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Kirby Ferguson; his daughter, Sandra Tuck & husband, Claudius; his son, Tony G. Ferguson & wife, Vickie; two granddaughters, Tonya T. Nance & friend, Billy J. Creasey, Jill Grey Ferguson; three grandsons, Kennon R. Tuck & wife, Alicia, Brandon G. Tuck & wife, Cheryl, Clay S. Ferguson; five great-grandchildren, Whitney Banker & husband, Devin, Heather K. Nance, Austin R. Tuck, Katlyn R. Tuck, Noah G. Tuck; great great granddaughter, Emmie Banker; special niece, Rhonda Ferguson; great nephew, Rusty Orange & wife, Kara and their children, Kaden & Kyla; special great niece, Bobbi Sue Orange; his sisters, Barbara F. Mayhew & husband, Leonard, Brenda F. Howard & friend, Gene as well as numerous nieces & nephews. The family would like to give many thanks to all of the caregivers at Oakwood Health & Rehab for the kindness & loving care shown while Billy was there. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston with Rev. Wayne Murphy & Rev. Ken Lester officiating. Interment will follow in Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
