Clifton Ford Byrd, 88 of Moneta, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center. He was born on Friday, December 14, 1928 in Bedford County, a son of the late Jesse June Byrd and Nona Bell Craghead Byrd.
He was a owner/manager of Byrds Restaurant, Clifton F. Byrd & Sons Construction Company and Waterwheel Marina
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hartman Byrd; his sons, David Herman Byrd & wife, Tina, B. Steven Byrd & companion, Tina Lupacchino; three granddaughters, Amanda May Byrd, Megan Beth Byrd, Haleigh Ann Byrd; special friends, Steve & Sharon Lowe, Ron & Linda Sweet as well as three nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Oakwood Manor 3rd floor staff for the wonderful care given Cliff while he was a resident there.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the Byrd Family Cemetery @ Radford Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
