Obituary of Shelvie Jean Justus Tester

In the stillness of the night, on Monday October 29, 2018, Shelvie Jean Justus Tester, age 72 of Moneta, was ushered into the arms of her heavenly father while surrounded by her loved ones. Shelvie was born on July 18, 1946 to Fred and Ada Justus of Hurley, Va. She was a graduate of Hurley High School Class of 1965. She attended Little French Beauty Academy in Bluefield, WV in 1967. 

Shelvie worked as a beautician for over 40 years, owning her own shops in the communities of Hurley, Va. and Moneta. She dedicated herself to her work and truly loved what she did. Shelvie also cherished time spent with her loving husband of 52 years Jimmy and enjoyed every opportunity to spoil and encourage her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany Bible Church of Hurley, Va. and attended Goodview Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Anne Hackney; two brothers, Donald Justus and Billy Joe Justus. Survivors include: husband, James (Jimmy) Tester;  one son, Jeffery Tester and wife,  Setema of Moneta;  one daughter,  Lisa Waller and husband, Tim of Moneta;  four grandchildren, Emily Waller, Taylor Tester, Derek Waller, Thomas (TJ) Tester, all of Moneta;  three brothers,  Bobby Justus of Oakwood, Danny Justus of Grundy, Ralph Justus of Hurley,  and many special nieces nephews great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, with burial to follow at Palestine Cemetery, Huddleston.  The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.

Serving as pallbearers Jeff Tester, Tim Waller, Derek Waller, TJ Tester, Brian Hackney, James Hackney, Tommy Hackney, David Justus, Michael Justus, Kevin Justus, Tyler Justus, Jeffery Justus, Jody Justus, Johnny Dotson, Mark Dotson, Brad Tester, Gary Justus, Greg Justus, Gyler Justus. Honorary Pallbearers are Cecil Dotson, Bobby Justus, Danny Justus, Danny Tester, Henry May, Hal Kelley, Bruce Dotson.
