Gwendolyn Duval Witt, 66 of Lynch Station, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born on Monday, February 25, 1952 in Lynchburg, a daughter of the late John W. Duval  and Evelyn Fielder Duval.

Gwen was retired from Union Bank, having been employed for 30 years as a personal banker. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, as well as a dear friend to so many. She was also a devoted member of Huddleston Community Church and had a passion for helping others. 

She is survived by her husband, James Arthur Witt, Jr.; her daughters, Jamie Nelson & husband, Brett of Milwaukee, WI, Courtney Witt of Hilton Head Island, SC; her grandson, Eli Nelson; her sisters, Dorothy Garrett of Forest, Brenda Elliott & husband, Bob of Gladys, Sandy Duval of Forest, Mary Abbott & husband, Steve of Forest, Margie Witt & husband, Cotton of Bedford as well as many nieces & nephews.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Huddleston Community Church, 1993 Glenwood Drive, Bedford, VA 24523 and/or Because We Care Ministries, P.O. Box 14132, Roanoke, VA 24038.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Rock Chocklette officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 4 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford
