I played basketball for Coach Grant for the 80-82 seasons at LHS. My memory of him that I will never forget: Before every game he had us group up as a team and say the Lord's Prayer. At the end we would say "Together we stand, divided we fall. Hey, Hey." What a witness he was for each of us.
A couple of years ago I was able to thank him personally for being bold in his faith.
May you find peace and comfort in the Lord during your time of sorrow.

When we first started at Thaxton Baptist Church Fay and David were the first ones to introduce themselves and make us feel welcome. You could tell that the church appreciated both of them. We are so sorry for your loss. If there is anything we can do, please give us a call. We love you and share your grief.

My heart is broken to hear of Mr Grants death. He was a great man and I have a lot of special memories of playing basketball under him at LHS. It seems like it was yesterday. I couldn't have asked for a better coach with such a special family. We had a great time. I can't imagine the pain the family feels and I am so sorry! I know there are no comforting words when we lose a parent or spouse. We can just hold all the beautiful memories in our heart and celebrate a great life!
Again I am so sorry for your loss and pain. Hugs to you all!

I got to play Girls Basketball under Coach Grant 1981-82 ( junior/senior) years of High School. He along with other coaches worked us physically, taught us skills and scolded ;) us when deserved. However, Coach Grant brought us together as a TEAM that excelled into State finals. It was a hard 1 point loss. He deserved his honors. R.I.P Coach Grant :)
Condolences to Faye and rest of family as well.

Faye & Family,
We were very sadden today when we heard from Warren Otey about David. So many memories we have about You & David. All the reunions we attended together.
Especially the time You were here for the championship games in Hampton, Va. & You stayed with us. We throughly enjoyed all the good times we had together, even
if we did live miles apart. Good friends last forever and now David will be with one of his best friends,GOD. I am sure He will have a special place just for him. Faye, I know your heart is broken. Ours are hurting also. True friends are difficult to give up..
We loved both of you & still do,
Mike & Peggy Wright

I was so proud to have been taught by Mr. Grant school yr. 1973-74. He was given a tough assignment with me in his class as I was the very 1st female Ag. Shop class member in all Bedford County. The boys were a little tough on me at first. He didn't "coddle" me nor try to make it easier for me but was always professional & just a real good instructor. I can remember the big teacher's desk in his office where he had the prettiest picture of his wife and those 2 adorable little boys. He was so proud of his family & talked about them often.
May God bless you, Faye, Stewart & Joseph, Harry B. and families. Hold tight onto all those memories that you have.

Having Mr. Grant as a teacher many years ago at liberty high school he put up with my teenage girl ways in his shop class. I had the pleasure of not only having him as my teacher but years later also being able to communicate with him where I work. For the past couple of months I've got to talk to him a little more and my last conversation with him I told him how much he meant to me and how great of a man I thought he was and thanked him for such great times in his class. I'm glad a had that conversation with him because he told me it meant a lot to him for me to say those words. You will be greatly missed Mr. Grant. Until we meet again sir
