Obituary of Sharon Sue Laughlin

Sharon Sue Laughlin, 71 of Bedford, departed this world for a better one on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Lynchburg Health & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. She was born on Saturday, February 25, 1950 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Warren George Laughlin and Edith Mayhew Laughlin. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dan Laughlin.
Sharon was a lifelong member of Main Street United Methodist Church from the age of 12. She was a part of many ministries and other volunteer activities including Habitat for Humanity, Christmas in April, Shepherds Table and Big Brothers/Big Sisters just to name a few.
She is survived by a sister, Faye Hurst (Lynn) of Roanoke; a beloved niece, Allison Hurst of Arlington, MA and many cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Shepherd's Table, 217 W Washington St., Bedford, VA 24523 or Habitat for Humanity, 108 Center St., Bedford, VA 24523
Per her wishes, she will be cremated and the family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 12 noon on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford with a memorial service to follow at 2 PM in the chapel with Pastor Dawn Compton officiating.
