Obituary of Andrew Jackson Lucas, Jr.

Andrew Jackson Lucas, Jr. (Jackie), born March 9, 1945, went to his eternal home on February 3, 2022, after a long illness with Lewy Body Dementia. He retired in 1999 from Boonsboro Elementary School where he worked 32 years as a teacher. He then worked for Bedrock Thunder for 19 years. He was born to Andrew Jackson Lucas, Sr. and Alice Curlee Lucas, who both preceded him to his eternal home. He is survived by a son, Andrew Jackson Lucas, III (Jason); a brother Alan Lucas and wife, LaDonna; a sister Diane Lucas Crockett and husband, Barry; a sister Kathy Lucas; a niece Ally Crockett Gile and husband, Taylor; a nephew Trenten Fenster; great nephew, Silas Gile, and long-time family friend, Linda Loveleen Williams Hall. Jack’s loves in this world were his son, his family, playing music, and Corvettes. He played music since 1960 with several well-known bands in the area; his first being the Batiks, The Galaxies, Renaissance, Off the Cuff, Revised Edition, and Band of Gold. His love for Corvettes always showed. He owned a total of 28 in his lifetime and numerous Saleen Mustangs. Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2022, from 5 to 7 pm at Updike Funeral Home 1140 W Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike (460), Bedford, VA 24523 and graveside services will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Green Hill Cemetery 300 Westwood Drive, Altavista, Va. The family would like to thank Cardinal Senior Living in Bedford, Virginia, for such wonderful care and Centra Hospice for all of their support.
