Obituary of Sampson Crawford Boone, III
Sampson Crawford Boone III, 67 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023. He was born on Tuesday, March 22, 1955 a son of the late Sampson Crawford Boone Jr. and Geraldine Chilton Loicanno.
He was with the Norfolk Police Department, having graduated in the first group of eighteen year olds to be sworn in as police officers. He was retired after thirty years of service having served in the Vice & Narcotics Unit, Forensics Unit, Dive Team, Traffic Bureau, Patrol and Bike Patrol. He then retired from the Bedford County Sheriff's Department having served as a road deputy, Forensics Units, Investigations unit, Court deputy for Juvenile, Domestic & Relations Court and Celebrant of Marital Rights. He was part owner of a dive shop in Virginia Beach called Atlantic Caribbean Dive Shop.
He was a member of the Republican Party of Bedford, Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, Mechanized Calvary Bikes for Trump and Blue Knights.
He is survived by his wife, Christy Boone; step-daughter, Sarah Walker (Derek Greer); step-son, Michael Walker; Brother, Wayne Boone (Carol); nephew, Aaron Boone (Shannon); Niece, Jennifer Nichols (Brian); step-grandsons, Alasdair Walker, Malcolm Walker; great nephew, Patrick Nichols; great nieces, Abigail Nichols, Grace Boone, Reese Boone as well as many cousins.
The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
The family will receive friends beginning at 11 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Bedford Presbyterian Church and a memorial services will follow at 12 noon with Rev. John Salley officiating. Lunch will follow the service.
