Rebekah, in her devotion, touched lives like a gentle sunrise, encouraging growth with her heartening love. Her thoughtfulness was the invisible thread weaving harmony into the tapestry of life. The wellspring of her creativity inspired those around her to dream more, do more and become more. Rebekah's memory continues to uplift us. As we honor her life, we find comfort knowing that she enriched our journey through this world in immeasurable ways.

Reba was my grandmother. I called her Nanna. I don’t have a relationship with my mother and Nanna filled that role for me. She taught me many things; how to style my hair, how to clean, cook, sew, garden, and to tell the truth. Nanna’s house always smelled like eucalyptus. I love that smell. I remember watching her do her makeup when I was younger. She had a vanity and a makeup mirror that lit up. She explained each step and I watched closely. She also explained how she fixed her hair and which products she used. Anytime I see or smell Aussie products, I think of her. I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons and toast with butter and jelly. She used to feed the squirrels saltine crackers. She would open the back door and
they would just take the cracker right out of her hand.
I remember running errands with Nanna. We always had to make a list first; we listed each place we were going and what we needed to get. She loved to shop and look at antiques. I remember singing in the car; we listened to Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, the Top Gun soundtrack, and Richard Marx.
I moved away when I was 9 and between visits we stayed in touch over the phone or through mail.
Nanna loved to send me cards and gifts just to let me know she was thinking about me. My favorite memories are from visiting her when she lived in Maine. I was a teenager and I didn’t fully appreciate it at the time but those are the memories that stand out to me now. I remember how beautiful the land
was. Nanna had an amazing vegetable and flower garden. She loved to decorate her walls with antiques.
I remember she had crystals hanging in the windows and little rainbows would fill the room when the sun shined through. Nanna had tons of craft supplies and made beautiful flower arrangements. One day she taught me how to make a topiary and I remember how peaceful it was to sit there and create
something with her.
In addition to being crafty, Nanna was a great caretaker. I had my first migraine headache in Maine.
Since Nanna used to get migraines herself, she knew exactly what to do to help me through it. At the end of our visits, Nanna gave the best hugs. She would hold on for a long time, give me last minute advice, and tell me she loved me.
As with any relationship, we had ups and downs over the years. I understand now that she always wanted what was best for me. Our experiences together made me who I am and I’m so grateful for each moment with her. I hope she is remembered for her generosity, her playful spirit, and the love she gave
to friends and family.
