It is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to Fire Department Captain, Herbert R Brandt, Retired. A remarkable individual who dedicated his life to protecting and serving the community of North Plainfield.
Throughout his career he fearlessly faced the dangers and challenges of being a firefighter, and fire officer, often putting the safety of others before his own. I knew and remembered Herb as a friend and fire officer who made an unwavering commitment to duty and dedication to the well-being of our community.
As I will remember Captain Brandt, he was a hero not only in the line of duty but in his personal life as well. A loving father, husband, brother, and friend. His sense of humor and love for hunting and fishing will always be his personal trademark.
As we mourn the loss of Captain Brandt, let us celebrate his life. Let us remember the countless people he impacted in his personal and professional life.
To the family, friends, and brothers in service of Captain Herbert Brandt, we extend our deepest condolences. We stand united in support and gratitude. Rest in peace, knowing that you served your family and community well.
Fire Chief John Garnecki, Retired
