Obituary of Effie Jean Skinnell Crawford

Effie Jean Crawford of Bedford, Virginia, born January 15, 1955, was called home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by father and mother, George Winston Skinnell and Helen Louise Adams Skinnell; her uncle, Paul and his wife Lucille; and her special cousin Deb. 

She was a member of Ephesus Church at Otter Hill. 

A caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend. She loved all things primitive, eating at Cracker Barrel, going to the beach, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and going on trips with them and her husband of 51 years, Mike. They built a strong relationship built with love, trust, and God that many dream of having. They built a loving home for their daughters and their families. Jean loved her grandchildren, Samantha, Will, Grayson, and Dean more than anything in this world. This was clear to anyone that was ever around her. She would often show pictures of her grandchildren and tell you all about them. 

Those left to remember those wonderful memories are her husband, Mike; daughters, Angie and her husband, Ricky, Andrea and her husband, Matt; grandchildren, Samantha and her husband Nick, Will, Grayson, and Dean; great-grandchild, Avery; mother-in-law, Cora; special cousin, Donna and her husband, Pete; and multiple other family members and friends who loved her very much. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to send contributions to Ephesus Church of Otter Hill benevolence funds. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Ephesus Church of Otter Hill on Otter Hill Road in Bedford, Virginia with Pastor Stewart Mitchell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  There is no visitation.
