When I heard the news, my first feeling, shameful as it is, was regret - regret that I had not taken time to visit with you, regret that I had not done more to keep in touch with you, regret that my children did not get to know you like I did. I loved our weekend visits to your home, how Uncle Vernon would tease you, and you'd just smile quietly right back at him, then he'd call you "Doe". Somehow, though, I always knew you could take him in a war of the words. You were a strong worker - always moving rocks, working on your gardens, tending to your grapevines, keeping a spotless house. Never once did I ever hear you complain. The times spent with you and your family (whom I know you loved dearly) on that little plot of land in "the country" were some of the happiest I have ever known. Rest in peace, Aunt Doshie, and know that you were loved, even if it was from afar. I trust I will definitely see you again.

I married Joe and got to have a MeMa for 13 years. She was filled with faith and loved her family. She called her Grandchildren the 7 wonders. MeMa was very positive, forgiving and sweet. When she would tell a story she always had a sparkle in her eye. MeMa liked to write poems or pieces as she would call them. I was blessed to have her in my life. Although we were separated by ill health and poor finances she was always in our hearts. I am proud to have been a member of her family. She was an example to us all.
