Obituary of Delia Belle Olson

Delia Belle Coffey Olson, 89 of Lowry, passed quietly to her heavenly home on Sunday morning February 2, 2014. She leaves behind a daughter, Carolyn Olson Blevins, son-in-law Jack Blevins, and three grandchildren, Michael Allan Olson of New York, Alaina Roselle Blevins, a recent transplant to Lowry from Fairfax VA, and Christina Caroline Blevins of West Hollywood, CA. She had one great-granddaughter Emma Olson, of New York. She also leaves behind a loving daughter-in-law, Susan Olson Kilcup and her husband, Dan Kilcup. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, and son, Alan Ray Olson. She was born and grew up in Lowry, in the Coffey General Store. After high school, she moved away to Washington DC, attended college, married and stayed there until the late 1970s when she returned to help her mother run the Coffey General Store, while her husband restored the home she lived in until her passing. Delia's favorite activities were the interactions with her friends, family, and church family. She was the most loving, friendly, positive and forgiving person, who touched so many lives with her beautiful smile and genuine interest in everyone around her. The hole she leaves in the community will not easily be able to be filled. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Center Point United Methodist Church, 1177 Timber Ridge Road, Bedford, VA 24523. A celebration of Delia's life will be conducted Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 2 PM with Pastor William Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
