Obituary of James Joseph Giglio

James Joseph Giglio, 73 passed away peacefully his home in Thaxton on Wednesday, May 6, 2015. He was born on August 19, 1941 in New Orleans, LA, a son of the late James Giglio and Mildred Touzet Giglio. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Adele Maquar &, Mary Alice Scofield.
Jim was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He began his work career as a machinist in Louisiana. After moving to Virginia, he opened a custom cabinet business that thrived for many years. After retiring, he pursued his long-time interest in guns as a part-time gunsmith. Jim loved the outdoors, spending much time farming, hunting, and tending to his land. He always said Virginia was like a paradise on Earth, and he never wanted to leave.
He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Elsa P. Giglio; daughter, Elizabeth Giglio; son, Jason Giglio; daughter-in-law, Christine; and grandchildren, Tyler Bishop, Tony Giglio; brother-in-law, Roger Pazzati.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
A service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 6:00 pm at Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Sheehan officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
