Sarah Jane Almond, (Sali) 71 of Bedford, VA, passed away on June 10, 2016 in Winchester VA.
Sali was born in Cedar Rapids IA to Raymond and Claribel Wernimont on October 1, 1944. She attended Washington High School in Cedar Rapids IA and Drake University in Des Moines IA. She worked at JAMCO Inc. for 17 years and enjoyed volunteering at the D-Day Memorial, reading, decorating, gardening and spending time at the beach.
Sali is survived by her three daughters, Abby Lisk of Stephens City, Virginia, Debye Gotsch of Deland, Florida and Becky Gotsch of Sebring, Florida. She is also survived by sons in law, Patrick Lisk and Louis Gotsch and her grandchildren, Jeep and Meghan Lisk, Bailie Fansler-Lisk, Emylee and Erynn Gotsch,and Hannah and Faith Gotsch. She is preceded in death by her brother, William Wernimont and the love of her life Tommy Tesoriere.
The family requests that those wishing to make memorial donations in her memory be made to D Day Memorial P.O. Box 77 Bedford VA 24523 or at www.dday.org.
Funeral services will be held at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford on June 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive visitors at beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will be a private gathering for close friends and family immediately afterwards at the Peaks of Otter.
