Mrs. Lynch was my first grade teacher at Moneta Elementary School in Bedford County. I have thought about her through the years. She really was one of my favorite teachers.

saying goodbye to my dear friend of 38 years is one of the hardest things I have done in my lifetime...I loved her dearly and she me....God blessed me with her friendship...I carpooled with her 13 years to teach 4th and 5th grades at Burnley Moran Elementary School in Charlottesville, VA....she went on to Burford Middle School where she continued her positive influence teaching so many young people who loved her dearly and are now fine residents in Charlottesville with families of their own....Her passion was Virginia history and her students adored her.. her calm nature was soothing to them..Loretta gave happily over 30 years of her life to that city.. It is beyond me how one soft spoken lady could influence so greatly our next generation..
I spent many summers in Bedford with Loretta and Harvey Lynch and I was delighted at twighlight on the porch with them...Harvey was gentle as was Loretta...he could peel an apple and tomato and hold up one peel..he could shell butter beans faster than a machine .It was amazing! How Loretta went back and forth from Charlottesville to Bedford most weekends and left him food for the next week was beyond me.
The stories Harvey shared about Bedford I will always cherish and sometimes laugh. I would play tricks on Harvey and his friend Oscar..I have a stool on my lake porch they made for me.
The only way I can say goodbye is knowing she isn’t suffering and resting in peace, as promised. Please bless her family...such wonderful Bedford folks who always made me feel so welcome and special...she will always be with me as she always has....her life was a gift to me and thank you to those, so many of you out there, that loved her, too.
