Obituary of Sylvia Loretta Lynch Miller

Sylvia Loretta Lynch Miller, 70 of Forest, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at her residence. She was born April 30, 1946 in Bedford County, daughter of the late Harvey Lynch and Claudine Vaughn Lynch. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Richard Stephen Miller. She graduated from Randolph-Macon Women's College and the University of Virginia and was retired from the Charlottesville School System as a teacher and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the American Association of University Women, the Bedford Genealogy Society and was a volunteer with Bedford Hospice. She is survived by her cousin, Larry Lynch & wife, Joyce and their family, Stephen Lynch & wife, Brenda & son, Bryce of Virginia Beach; Michael Lynch & Shelly Lovelace of Richmond; Cheri Dellinger & daughter, Geri of Bedford, Tony Dingus & wife, Linda & their family of Bedford; Lloyd Grant & family of Forest, Rita & Robert Ferguson of Richmond; her cousin, Curtis Vaughn & wife, Beverly & their family of Herndon; her cousin, Thelma Snead & family of Richmond; and numerous other relatives & friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider Main Street United Methodist Church, 212 East Main Street, Bedford, VA 24523 A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11AM at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Ecklund officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
